Evil Twin Brewing was founded by Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø, a former school teacher in Copenhagen, in 2010. The brewery exports to more than a dozen different countries around the world.
During the first year, the brewery only made test batches, and in 2011 their total production was about 1,000 barrels.
In 2012, Evil Twin launched over 40 different beers, and they currently brew at 10 different breweries in six different countries around the world with production growing to about 2,500 to 3,000 barrels.
In March 2012, Jarnit-Bjergsø and his family relocated to Brooklyn, New York to grow and develop the Evil Twin brand.
Jarnit-Bjergsø is also the owner of Tørst, an epic beer bar located in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, along with Daniel Burns of Noma and Momofuku Labs fame.
Tørst is known for employing a Glycol system, which allows them to serve the 20 beers on tap at the proper temperature depending on the style. The bar also boasts an impressive bottle list, assuring the perfect beer for everyone.
Jarnit-Bjergsø is also the twin brother (born two minutes apart) of Mikkel Borg Bjergso, a former high-school science teacher who runs the Danish brewery Mikkeller. The pair admittedly have a “complicated” relationship.
Evil Twin is most known for Imperial Biscotti Break and Even More Jesus, which are considered two of the best beers in the world.
Christmas Eve At A New York City Hotel Room is a 10% ABV Imperial Stout with a unique, yet glum name, perhaps arising from being separated from loved ones during the holidays. Brewed at Two Roads Brewing in Connecticut, this beer is a seasonal release from Evil Twin.
Hopefully you have a delicious brew or two to accompany you on this Christmas Eve. Happy Holidays and Cheers!
