Bissell Brothers Brewing Company was founded in December 2013 by brothers Peter and Noah Bissell. Originally located at 1 Industrial Way in Portland, Maine, the brewery later relocated to Thompsons Point along Fore River, next to the International Cryptozoology Museum.

Over the years, Bissell Brothers has developed a following of devoted hop heads, craving the unfiltered, hazy “New England-style IPAs.” Loyal drinkers can enjoy the hoppy liquid on draft or to go in cans from the Portland taproom.

But that’s not all.

This summer, Bissell Brothers opened its long-awaited second location, Bissell Brothers Three Rivers, located in Milo, Maine, the town where the brothers grew up. The rotating taps include two Milo-exclusive beers.

During a recent trip to New England, I visited the Portland location and picked up some cans.

Available from April to October, Baby Genius is a hoppy, hazy blonde ale described as eclectic and crushable. The beer is brewed with pilsner, flaked wheat, malted wheat, Vienna, and flaked oats. It is heavily hopped with Citra, Ella, and Topaz hops.
