Bell’s Brewery Oberon, a 5.8% ABV American pale wheat ale
Daffodils blooming. Ritas Italian Ice reopens. Flip flops and shorts. Six packs of Oberon. These are all signs that warmer weather is upon us.
Bell’s Oberon is a wheat ale fermented with Bell’s signature house ale yeast. A summertime favorite among many craft beer drinkers, Oberon combines a spicy hop character with mildly fruity aromas. The use of wheat malt provides a smooth mouthfeel.
The official release day for Oberon this year was March 24, 2014. This year Bell’s offered new merchandise to celebrate the release including this year’s poster, pint glass, t-shirt and more… even string lights. You can still purchase Oberon 2014 merchandise from Bell’s General Store.
Beer drinkers from around the country could join the celebration by posting pictures of their first Oberon of the season. By using the hashtag #Oberon14 or #LeaveTheSunOn on Twitter or Instagram, photos could be added to the Bell’s photo gallery. Users on Untappd could unlock a unique Oberon Release 2014 badge by checking-in to their first Oberon of 2014.
This classic summer beer is available from March through Labor Day each year and can be purchased in 6-packs, 12-packs, on draft, and 5 liter mini-kegs.
Late this April, Bell’s Oberon and Two Hearted Ale will be available in 16 ounce cans for the first time. The cans will be available to purchase in four-packs in all markets that carry Bell’s beer. In the future Bell’s also plans to can Best Brown Ale, Winter White Ale and Smitten Golden Rye Ale. The canning line was part of the brewery’s recent expansion.
