Diamondback Brewing Company is located at the former Phillips and Coca-Cola plant in Locust Point at McHenry Row in Baltimore, Maryland. Located a mile and a half from historic Fort McHenry, the new 6,800-square-foot brewery and 50-seat taproom opened in November 2016.

Diamondback is known for their hoppy beers like Green Machine, their house IPA dry hopped with Citra and Ella, Omar, an American Pale Ale brewed and dry hopped with El Dorado, and Ruffled Feathers, and IPA dry hopped with Chinook.

DQ’d: Peach & Apricot is the latest release in the DQ’d series of IPAs from Diamondback. Here’s a little background on the series from Diamondback’s website:

Every year, Max’s Taphouse hosts a trike race between breweries from all around Maryland in winner take all battle for beer pride. In 2016, we were disqualified from the annual trike race during Baltimore Beer Week due to our “illegitimate” trike, the beloved Green Machine. UNION Craft Brewing relished this moment and decorated a tree in Broadway Square with our trike.

From that moment, DQ’d was born. Last August of 2017, we brewed this beer in collaboration with Casey Hard and the Max’s team adding blueberries and raspberries to the beer. After much pressure from our fans, we decided to bring this beer back, this time changing up the fruit addition slightly.

DQ’d: Peach & Apricot is brewed with a hefty load of wheat and oats, and hopped heavily both during the whirlpool and with dry-hopping additions. The finished beer is soft, smooth, creamy, juicy, and immensely aromatic. This version features the addition of apricots and peaches.

Thanks to our patron, Ron, for sharing this can with us!
