Fat Head’s Brewery Bumble Berry, a 5.3% ABV Honey Blueberry Ale
Appearance | Golden honey color with loads of bubbles; fluffy white head. |
Aroma | Blueberries, blueberries, blueberries. |
Taste | Blueberries then sweet honey and wheat; blueberry flavor lingers. |
Mouthfeel | Crisp, refreshing, loads of carbonation. |
Overall | This beer reminds me of Boston Beer Work’s Bunker Hill Bluebeery Ale. It’s refreshing, delicious, and full of blueberry flavor. While my taste for fruit beers has diminished a bit over the years, I could still see myself drinking this one again and again! |
A few introductory words from Wayne:
As I take my first foray into homebrewing, conjuring up a batch of Raspberry Jalapeno Saison with Steph, we decided to continue the berry theme and crack open some bottles of this brew. This is an easy drinking, relatively sessionable beer, perfect as the heat of summer starts to kick into gear today. Great for a brew day, great for a summer day, I really enjoyed this offering and look forward to trying more concoctions from Fat Head’s.
Fat Head’s began brewing in the historic South Side of Pittsburgh, PA in 1992. Later, in 2009, Fat Head’s Brewery & Saloon opened in North Olmsted, Ohio. Here, they produced over 5000 barrels in the first 3 years of business. They expanded to a full-scale production brewery in 2012 in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.
Voted “Most Refreshing Beer in America” by Brewing News Global Warming Open, Bumble Berry is brewed with fresh harvested spring honey and infused with fresh blueberries. This light, refreshing ale boasts a huge blueberry aroma, bready malt flavors, a hint of honey sweetness and a refreshing blueberry finish. Try pairing this one with salads, chicken, and oatmeal cookies.
