Here’s another great beer from Kevin O’Connor and O’Connor Brewing Company in Norfolk, Virginia. You can read more about Kevin and the history of O’Connor Brewing by reading Steph’s Review of El Guapo.

O’Connor’s new space is located at 211 West 24th Street in Norfolk and is quadruple the size of the previous spot. The new location has a huge beer hall/music venue, a new tasting room with a 24-tap system, a game room, a movie theater-style projector, and a VIP mezzanine with a private bar. The fun, family-friendly environment welcomes both kids and dogs.

Great Dismal was named after the wildlife refuge in Virginia and North Carolina that was used as part of the Intracoastal Waterway at one time. This dark black IPA is extensively hopped both in bittering and aroma. O’Connor recommends pairing this ale with filet mignon, roast duck, deep-fried turkey, and anything chocolate.
