Speakeasy Ales & Lagers was founded by Forest Gray in 1997. Located in a warehouse in San Francisco’s Butchertown District, the brewery features complex beers and striking 1920s imagery. Their first brew was Prohibition Ale, a bold, hoppy amber ale. One of their best selling beers today is Big Daddy IPA, an intense, yet balanced India Pale Ale.

The brewery recently celebrated 18 years of craft beer. To mark the milestone, they released the new Baby Daddy Session IPA. The crushable 4.7% ABV is also the first Speakeasy beer released in a can.

In addition to the beer release, Speakeasy threw an anniversary party at the brewery, which featured special release and barrel-aged beers.

Recently, Speakeasy also went through a big expansion, which included the installation of a new 60-barrel brewhouse, new canning and kegging line, a quality control lab, and eight 300-barrel fermenters. Their annual capacity will increase from 15,000 to 90,000 barrels.

Baby Daddy Session IPA is the first edition in Speakeasy’s Session 47 Series. The straw-colored brew packs a punch with aromas and flavors of grapefruit, melon, lime, passion fruit, and a touch of spice. The crisp finish and low bitterness make ideal for pairing with food like a juicy burger, Gorgonzola cheese, or curry.
