On Sunday, October 19, Liberty Taproom in Reading, PA held their second annual PA Tap Takeover. All 32 indoor taps were turned over to several Pennsylvania breweries from newcomers like Funk Brewing Company in Emmaus, PA to local staple Stoudts Brewing Company in Adamstown, PA.
Liberty Taproom specializes in American craft beer, as well as Belgian brews and other imports. In addition to the 32 taps, the bottle shop at Liberty has over 500 different bottles.
The Pennsylvania brews were available in flights of 4 or by the pint. I enjoyed Canes Venatici and Pariah from Weyerbacher Brewing Company, Gregg’s Choice from Bullfrog Brewery, and James Brown Ale from Golden Avalanche Brewing Company.
Fellow Berks County Homebrew Club member Mark Hummel was in attendance hoping to sample all 32 beers on tap. Luckily he brought along some help!
A few other beers on tap included Pizza Boy Brewing Company Sunny Side Up and Bean Dream, HiJinx Brewing Company Steal Your Face Stout and Kung Fu Gnome, The Other Farm Brewing Company Peach Saisonner and Renart’s Tripel, Armstrong Ales Scrupulous Lupulus and Old Tosser, as well as Tröegs Brewing Company Hop Knife.
Other PA breweries with beers on tap during the event included Helltown, Spring House Brewing Company, The Colony Meadery, Old Forge Brewing Company, Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company, Chatty Monks Brewing Company, Free Will Brewing Company, Victory Brewing Company, Fegley’s Brew Works, among others.
