The Brewers of Pennsylvania (BOP) hosted Meeting of the Malts VI, the association’s popular annual event that gathers the most acclaimed breweries to discuss the state of the craft beer industry.
Meeting of the Malts VI, presented by Micro Matic USA, took place Thursday, March 30 at Artsquest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, PA.
The event featured a cast of panelists including Dick Yuengling from D. G. Yuengling & Son, Jim Koch from Samuel Adams, David Walker from Firestone Walker Brewing Company, and Eric Wallace from Left Hand Brewing Company. The panel discussion was emceed by industry icon, Bump Williams.
Attended by over 500 attendees, the event included panel discussions, keynote addresses, a silent beer auction featuring unique and collectible items from a variety of breweries, a four-course beer dinner, and the Pennsylvania BrewPub Festival.
Chris Lampe, President of the Brewers of Pennsylvania and Production Manager for Weyerbacher Brewing Company led the toast with Guildy Pleasure, a Belgian IPA brewed by members of the Lehigh Valley Brewers Guild.
The four-course beer dinner featured Oversized Meatball paired with Yuengling Lord Chesterfield, Mahi Mahi Ceviche paired with Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA, Braised Short Rib with Sweet Potato Mashed paired with Left Hand Travelin’ Light, and Tahitian Vanilla Panna Cotta paired with Samuel Adams Rebel Juiced IPA.
During the evening the BOP Legislative Champion Award was given to Senator Richard Alloway, II and Representative Mike Tobash. The award is given to a person(s) or organization who is a partner of the craft beer industry and who continually strives to promote and protect the craft beer industry in Pennsylvania.
The night ended with the Pennsylvania BrewPub Festival featuring Barley Creek Brewing Co., North Country Brewing Co., Covered Bridge Brewhaus, Boneshire Brew Works, The Proper Brewing Co., The Brewery at Hershey, Round Guys Brewing Co., Free Will Brewing Co., Yards Brewing Co., Berwick Brewing Co., Butler Brew Works, Zeroday Brewing Co., and HiJinx Brewing Co.
