Harrisburg Beer Week Donates $40,000 to Harrisburg River Rescue and Emergency Services

Press release… Harrisburg Beer Week organizers awarded $40,000 to its exclusive beneficiary, Harrisburg River Rescue and Emergency Services, taking its total in four years to $125,000 to the nonprofit emergency response team.

A check presentation took place at Broad Street Market, 1233 N. Third St., Harrisburg.

The donation was raised from proceeds from Harrisburg Beer Week, which ran April 20-29 2018. The 10-day annual event celebrates the local craft beer community while serving as a fundraiser for Harrisburg River Rescue.

“We’re so grateful for the support from this craft beer-loving community, the members of whom make Harrisburg Beer Week an impressive and imitable venture each year,” said Sara Bozich, Harrisburg Beer Week Co-Founder.

“Once again, our sponsors, participating breweries and venues, and local homebrewers impressed us with their generosity and ingenuity during this 10-day series, showcasing their abilities, products, and love for the greater Harrisburg area and its community,” Bozich said. “And of course it wouldn’t be without the help of the ever-thirsty customers and beer travelers who show up in droves to these events and buy these beers, all for the benefit of Harrisburg Beer Week and Harrisburg River Rescue.”

Harrisburg River Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer organization that provides community based, high quality, cost effective water rescue and emergency services for the residents of the southcentral Pennsylvania region.

“We continue to be in awe of the outpour of support from the community during this annual event,” said Tony Reigle, Fundraising Chairman, Harrisburg River Rescue and Emergency Services. “This support is critical to our organization’s operational sustainability. It also allows our organization to remain equipped with up-to-date technology to better serve the surrounding community and the various missions that we have as well as focus on training our personnel to better handle those situations that are unique to the area.”
