On November 27, 2015, Chatty Monks Brewing Company in West Reading, PA opened their much anticipated second floor known as The Abbey.
The additional space features rustic wood accents, exposed brick, antique lighting, and a large Chatty Monks logo painted on the wall. The comfortable and relaxed room seats about 35 and offers views of the bustling Penn Avenue below.
Beers on tap included Chocolate Maids A Milkin, a 5.8% ABV Chocolate Milk Stout; Endoplasmic Reticulum, a 7.0% ABV IPA; Crash Test Pumpkin, a 6.0% ABV Pumpkin Ale; and Revelation Ale, a 5.5% ABV English-Style IPA.
Chatty Monks is owned by Norm Eaton, Rob Metzger, Joe Ellis, and Brian Reedy. The brewpub opened in June 2014.
The crew will open a second larger location in Phoenixville in spring 2016. The new brewery and restaurant will be located in a 13,000 square foot space and include a 15-barrel brew system.
