In April 2015, Victory Brewing Company opened a new brewpub location at the corner of Cypress Street and Mill Road in Kennett Square, PA. The brewpub is located in a new development that includes townhomes and apartments.
The location, known as Victory at Magnolia, is the second brewpub for the company after the Downingtown location. A third Victory location will open later this year in Parkesburg with a 10,000 square foot brewpub and beer garden.
Victory at Magnolia seats 220 guests and offers 30 different Victory brews on tap including favorites like HopDevil IPA, Storm King, and Prima Pils, and seasonals like Summer Love Ale and Mad King’s Weiss.
This location boasts a seven-barrel brewery with a custom hop back and open fermentation, offering a rotating selection of Kennett brewed beer on draft. The plan is to rotate Kennett-specific brews. Some of the special beers on tap included Dark Lager, Liberty Bell Ringer, and Dark Rye Saison. Who knows, perhaps they’ll make a mushroom beer in the future?
During our visit, there were two beers on cask – Uncle Teddy’s Bitter and Headwaters Ale – as well as two beers offered on Nitro – Donnybrook Stout (a personal favorite of mine) and HopDevil IPA. Local wines from Chester County, PA are also available.
The centerpiece of the brewpub is the custom designed bar. The wainscoting on the bar was made from reclaimed mushroom boards. A huge Victory logo hangs proudly across the wall behind the bar among several shelves filled with large Victory-branded growlers.
Weather permitting, this location also offers outdoor seating. But if you’re indoors, the large industrial windows allow tons of light to pour through the space.
The food menu includes dishes made with the freshest local ingredients possible. Starters include the Hand Tossed Pretzel, Wings of Victory, and Hummus. Enjoy a salad or burger, or you could try one of the sandwiches like the Kennett Mushroom Sandwich, Carolina Pork Sandwich, or Hand Breaded Chicken Club.
Every day there is a “Menu Additions” page attached with a daily soup, appetizers (including a Seasonal Cheese & Charcuterie Plate), wing flavor of the day, and special sandwiches and entrees.
There is a retail store that sells bottles, beer-infused food products (including the popular Victory ice cream), and merchandise. Grab a six pack or T-shirt on your way out the door to the parking lot located in the rear of the building.
Victory at Magnolia is open Monday to Saturday 11 AM to midnight and Sunday 11 AM to 10 PM. The last seating in the dining room Monday to Saturday is 9:45 PM and 8:45 PM on Sunday. The kitchen closes 15 minutes after last seating.
