Machine House Brewery 5840 Airport Way S #121 | Seattle, WA 98108 (206) 402-6025 www.machinehousebrewery.com |
I recently visited Seattle, the “Emerald City”, located on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest. While it may be known for the surrounding water, mountains and evergreen forests, Seattle has no shortage of quality craft breweries.
Machine House Brewery, located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, produces traditional English-style cask ales served from traditional hand pumps. The brewery is in the “Malt House” of the original location of the Rainier Brewery at 5840 Airport Way South.
There are three beers always on tap. Best Bitter is a 4.2% ABV classic Best Bitter, Gold a 4.5% ABV pale-straw colored ale, and Dark Mild a 3.7% ABV traditional English Dark Mild. The seasonals on tap were Fustyweed Bitter and Double IPA. All of the beers were comforting, flavorful, and simply delicious.
You can also try a shandy with one of the beer on tap, or enjoy a local cider. San Pellegrino sparking water is available for purchase. Outside food is welcome. Catch English Premier League games, the latest Sounders & Seahawks matches or other sporting events in the tasting room.
The taproom is open Wednesday through Friday 3 to 9 PM, Saturday noon to 9 PM, and Sunday noon to 6 PM. The entrance to the taproom is under the big brick smoke stack down the alley between South Doris Street and South Nebraska Street. Kids are welcome.
