Nestled in the heart of Henderson, NV, is newcomer Lovelady Brewing. Their roots trace back many years as brothers Richard and Robert Lovelady started homebrewing at age 17. After years of planning and dreaming, Lovelady Brewing Company opened its doors in 2016.
As their website explains, Henderson was the chosen location because of family ties and the desire to help revitalize a forgotten and neglected neighborhood. Community is a main motivating factor to all they do, helping to support local charities and community events.
Taken there by a family member and fellow craft beer enthusiast, I was promised that their Nutty Pumpkin would be unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. In a world crowded with pumpkin beers it’s refreshing to see one like this – “a brown lager brewed with lots of pumpkin and hazelnut.” The flavors blended well together and the pint went down much quicker than I planned.
Moving on to a flight of other brews offered, it is clear to see that each beer is crafted with years of experience and an unyielding passion for all things beer. The transition from the Nutty Pumpkin was seamless. The Love Triangle Red Ale perfectly combined its hops and German malt with the Belgian yeast. Sour Puss, a kettle sour ale, showed that the Lovelady family is not afraid to get funky. OUTBOCK!, the lovechild of a bock and an IPA, brought another unique perspective. Hoppily Ever After hit the spot as a nice session IPA, lightly fruity with an easy finish.
Then the night was capped with another pint of the Nutty Pumpkin.
While at Lovelady you can choose to sit either inside the taproom or outside on the patio. Dogs are welcome on the patio, but the brewery asks you keep them on leashes. Inside the brewery you can challenge a friend to giant Jenga or shuffleboard, or you can join in watching whatever sporting event happens to be on the tap room’s TV.
If you find yourself in the Las Vegas area at any point, the short drive to Henderson should be part of the itinerary. With a warm atmosphere and delicious brews on tap, Lovelady Brewing Company is a must for any traveling beer lover.
