2013 brought us a rather nerdgasmic and beergasmic collaboration beer from the geektastic mind of Wil Wheaton and Fark.com’s Drew Curtis, with the help of Stone Brewing Co. It is with great anticipation that the world will soon be treated to another round of b33r (that’s “beer” in “leetspeak,” for those who may be unaware), with the release of w00tstout 2.0.
This time around, Wheaton and Curtis will be joined by actress/comedian Aisha Tyler, who you may recognize from “Friends,” “Archer,” and the newest iteration of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” w00tstout 2.0 will be an updated version of last year’s imperial stout brewed with wheat, flaked rye, pecans, and adding stoneground chocolate. To top it all off, it will be partially aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels.
The artwork for w00tstout 2.0 is inked by famed comic book artist Dave Gibbons. Gibbons is most known for his artwork in Watchmen, the only graphic novel to reach Time’s “Top 100 Novels” list. Other credits from Gibbons include various issues of Captain America, Batman Vs. Predator, Green Lantern, Star Wars, and countless others.
The sophomore version of this geeky brew will have its official debut at Hop-Con 2.0 at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens on Wednsday, July 23, 2014. The nerdy minds responsible for this seductive beer will be in attendance, and as Stone’s website points out, it “won’t be about awkward handshakes, high-fives, selfies and autographs – just general and rampant merriment and celebrating all things geeky.” Tickets to the event are $59, which will include samples, a commemorative Hop-Con 2.0 glass, and “lots of geeky good times!”
