CraftHaus Brewery 7350 Eastgate Rd Suite 110 | Henderson NV 89011 (702) 462-5934 www.crafthausbrewery.com |
CraftHaus Brewery, located in Henderson, NV across from Bad Beat Brewing, is owned by couple Wyndee and Dave Forrest. The pair was inspired to open a brewery while traveling through Europe when they found themselves immersed in a craft beer culture.
Dave was an award-winning homebrewer, and Wyndee worked as a publicist on the Las Vegas Strip. They are both graduates of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Head Brewers Steph Cope and Steve Brockman both bring talent and passion. Steph, Nevada’s first female head brewer, is originally from South Australia and brings experience from Western Australia’s largest craft brewery. Steve, originally from Western Australia, brings experience from one of Perth’s premier craft brewpubs.
The brewing pair has traveled more than 18,000 miles in the U.S., visiting over 300 breweries and working at a few along the way.
CraftHaus Brewery is part of the Artisan Booze District. Located just 15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, the Booze District is an alliance of family-owned beverage manufacturers dedicated to connecting the community through the spirit of spirits.
In addition to CraftHaus Brewery, Bad Beat Brewing, Vegas Brewing Company, Grape Expectations – Nevada School of Winemaking, Las Vegas Distillery, and the Chocolate Makery are all part of the Booze District.
We visited CraftHaus right after visiting Bad Beat Brewing. I was immediately attracted to the large cuckoo clock logo on the front door of CraftHaus.
Inside, the slate gray and lime green walls were decorated with monochromatic painted cuckoo clocks in orange, lime green, silver, and brown. The branding, while both modern and hip, honored Bavaria and classic German brewing roots.
You can take a seat at the L-shaped bar with tall metal barstools or one of the tables for four with bright orange or shiny blue chairs. Wooden pallets join together to offer a larger seating area with stools. There’s also an orange biergarten-style table or couches offering comfy seats (complete with pillows of Dave Grohl and Bill Murray’s faces).
A large window offers a view of the brewing area, and the beers were listed on a magnetic silver board with a lime green trim using those nostalgic plastic letters.
The beers on tap during our visit included…
- Evocation – 4.7% ABV A traditional Belgian-style ale with delicate, yet refreshing notes of lemon and pepper.
- Any Which Way – 6.3% ABV A harmony of citrus driven hops, toasted coriander seeds and fruity Belgian yeast allow for a refresing and flavorful IPA.
- Resinate – 6.5% ABV Classic west coast IPA. Pine and grapefruit hop characters “resinate” from within.
- Belgard – 4.5% ABV A classic stout with a Belgian twist. Prominent dark chocolate flavors supported by soft notes of cherry, toffee and dried fruit.
I enjoyed a flight of the four CraftHaus brews, served in a metal basket alongside a drinking bird. Science!
In addition, guest brews from Lagunitas and Ninkasi were also on tap. Snacks available include warm pretzels, JoJo’s Jerky (Carne Asada, Teriyaki, or Wasabi), and JoJo’s Peanuts (Ginger Basil or Caribbean). Food trucks are also frequently on site.
There is a “Next Time Around” board listing names of patrons that have pre-purchased a beer for a friend’s next visit, or you can purchase beer to go in 32-ounce or 64-ounce growlers. Evocation and Resinate are both available in 6-packs of cans to go.
The taproom is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5 to 10 PM, Friday 2 PM to midnight, Saturday noon to midnight, and Sunday 10 AM to 8 PM. Free tours are offered on Sunday at 3 PM.
Next time you’re in Vegas, do yourself a favor and head to Henderson. The short drive (or cab ride) will be worth it after you taste the delicious craft beers being brewed by CraftHaus Brewery!
