I recently visited Seattle, the “Emerald City”, located on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest. While it may be known for the surrounding water, mountains and evergreen forests, Seattle has no shortage of quality craft breweries.
Airways Brewing Company, located just south of Seattle in Kent, opened their new taproom a few months ago complete with a 10 barrel brewhouse. The taproom seats over 40 with both table and bar seating. There is also a garden area with outdoor seating. They offer a small selection of light snacks, and you’re welcome to bring in food, or have food delivered.
The taproom features a nose cone from a 747 jet. The nose cone came off of the 747 that is now located on top of Evergreen Museum Waterpark building located in McMinnville, Oregon.
Airways Brewing Co. Beer & Bistro, located in Historic Downtown Kent, offers hand tossed flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, and small bites that can’t be missed. I recommend the Vegetarian Sausage Pizza with locally made Field Roast vegetarian sausage, tomato sauce, white onions, and three cheese blend and topped with fresh arugula.
The tap list at the bistro includes craft beer (both from Airways and other local breweries), wine, and cider. Enjoy a year-round beer from Airways like Sky Hag IPA, Seat Kicker IPA, Loud Lady IPA, Maylani’s Coconut Stout, or Chocolate Stout, all which are available to go in 22 ounce bottles. Pre Flight Pilsner and PSA Summer Ale are available in 16 ounce cans.
The taproom is open Tuesday through Thursday 3 to 9 PM, Friday 2 to 10 PM, and Saturday 2 to 8 PM. The taproom is 21 and over, and dogs are welcome. The bistro is open Sunday through Thursday 11 AM to 9 PM and Saturday 11 AM to 10 PM.
