I recently visited Seattle, the “Emerald City”, located on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest. While it may be known for the surrounding water, mountains and evergreen forests, Seattle has no shortage of quality craft breweries.
Schooner EXACT Brewing Company is the brainchild of three friends. In 2007, beer began to flow at local pubs and restaurants, and in 2012 the trio opened a family friendly restaurant in the SODO (South of Downtown) neighborhood of Seattle. They produce over a dozen varieties of beer including seasonals, barrel-aged imperials, and sour ales.
There are 16 taps at the restaurant serving year-round beers like 3-Grid IPA, Hopvine IPA, Profanity Hill Porter, King Street Brown Ale, and Gateway Golden Ale. I enjoyed the tart and refreshing Jawja Peach Berliner Weisse and Emerald India Session Ale, which boasted tons of tropical fruit and citrus notes.
The restaurant is open Monday to Friday 11 AM to 10 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 10 AM to 10 PM, with brunch served from 10 AM to 2 PM. Beers are available in cans, bottles, growlers, and kegs to go. Schooner EXACT beer is available throughout the state of Washington, Oregon, and in Tokyo, Japan. There is a parking lot for the complex.
For your wine drinking friends, there are 4 wineries in the same complex, as well as a Vespa dealer.
