I recently visited Seattle, the “Emerald City”, located on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest. While it may be known for the surrounding water, mountains and evergreen forests, Seattle has no shortage of quality craft breweries.

Reuben’s Brews is located at 5010 14th Avenue NW in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, just a short walk from Stoup Brewing. They are a small, family-owned brewery that opened in August 2012. The brewery is named after the son of founders Adam and Grace Robbings.

The award-winning brewery won two medals at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival, a Gold medal at the 2015 World Beer Cup, have been awarded 30 World Beer Championships medals, and were named “Mid-Sized Brewery of the Year” at the 2015 Washington Beer Awards.

The overwhelming tap list boasts 24 options from sour beers to lagers, Belgian beers to hoppy IPAs, and malty bitters to dark stouts. After a day of drinking, I enjoyed the 3.2% ABV tart Dry Hopped Sour. I also recommend the 8% ABV Expat IPA with notes of passionfruit, lemon-lime, and white wine.

The taproom is open Monday to Thursday 3 to 10 PM and Friday to Sunday noon to 10 PM. Well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. There is a 10-foot HD screen to show Seattle and world sporting events. Food can be delivered from Zeeks Pizza, and there is also a regular rotation of food trucks. Free street parking is available.
