Steph’s New Brew Review: Sriracha Stout

Rogue Ales Sriracha Hot Stout Beer, a 5.7% ABV Stout with Huy Fong original hot chili sauce

Appearance Dark brown, frothy tan head.
Aroma Sweet, roasty stout aromas; coffee and chocolate.
Taste Rich, roasty stout flavors followed by Sriracha! The hot sauce flavor takes over with notes of garlic, spices, and chilies, finishing with subtle heat.
Mouthfeel Smooth and creamy.
Overall Not everyone will love this beer, but I do. I really do.

Rogue Sriracha Hot Stout Beer is made from Huy Fong original hot chili sauce and sun ripened Rogue Farms ingredients.

The bright red bottle, which mimics the iconic hot sauce container complete with a giant rooster, Chinese symbols, and a green cap, certainly catches attention.

David Tran began creating hot sauces in 1975 in Vietnam. His first hot sauce was called Pepper Sa-te, which was sold in recycled glass baby food jars. In 1979 he left Vietnam on a Taiwanese freighter named Huey Fong, which became the inspiration of his company’s name, Huy Fong Foods.

Tran began making hot sauce near Chinatown in Los Angeles in 1980, including his creation Sriracha Hot Sauce. Sriracha has become his most popular sauce. It is created from sun ripened chilies and sold in a plastic squeeze bottle.

The inspiration behind Rogue Sriracha Hot Stout Beer was quite simple. The employees at Rogue love the tasty condiment.

The creative concoction has become a record-selling product for Rogue. Rogue recommends enjoying this beer with soups, sauces, pasta, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, chow mein, or anything you’d like to wash down with a spicy kick.
