Monument City Brewing Company was founded by Ken and Matt Praay. Beer brought the brothers back together, who had been living six thousand miles apart.

Ken was living in Baltimore while Matt was working overseas. The pair spoke often, usually about beers they had either tried or brewed. During an annual hike along the Appalachian Trail, the conversation turned to opening a family brewery.

Matt moved to Baltimore, and the duo started perfecting beer recipes on a pilot brewing system. They focus on producing honest craft beer using traditional American brewing methods.

Monument City Brewing Company is located in the Orangeville neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. The taproom has a front row seat to the German designed brew house located in a historic Baltimore industrial building.

Monument City is known for their solid year round beers like Penchant Pils, American Brown Ale, 51 Rye, and Battle IPA. They also frequently release seasonal and one-time release beers. Sour For Days is a tart and refreshing fruited sour. Added pomegranates provide a touch of sweetness, and Himalayan salt balances out the flavors.
