SØLE Artisan Ales is Lehigh Valley’s only gypsy brewery.
Founder and brewer Joe Percoco established SØLE during the summer of 2015 with the release of Clink!, a Dry-Hopped Session Ale, which was brewed at Susquehanna Brewing Company.
What does it mean to be a gypsy brewer? Percoco brews his beers at established breweries, free from capital constraints of operating a production brewery himself. SØLE is, however, looking into opening a brew cafe in the future, but this is still in the early stages of planning.
The newest beer from SØLE Artisan Ales, Juicebox IPA, was released during the weekend of the Jonas snow storm, but that didn’t stop beer lovers from traveling from as far as New Jersey to claim a case before the beer was distributed to a select number of retailers in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Juicebox is a Northeast-style IPA brewed with fresh Mandarin orange zest and juice, and then saturated with late additions of Azacca and Simcoe hops. Juicebox offers flavors and aromas reminiscent of orange marmalade, pineapple juice, and candied grapefruit peel, with a considerable amount of dankness to boot.
