Overall It may not be German, but it’s still a tasty hefeweizen!

Brewing in the Austrian town of Grieskirchen dates back to the early Middle Ages.

Two of the original breweries were located on the site of the modern Brauerei Grieskirchen. The first record of the brewery guild in Grieskirchen dates back to 1569.

When Grieskirchen still served as a royal Bavarian border town, Brauerei Grieskirchen was the most eastern wheat beer brewery in Bavaria. Today, their wheat beer is still brewed according to an old Bavarian tradition.

Grieskirchner Weisse is a bright, variant, fruity wheat beer that is ideal for summer. Its full-bodied spicy flavor comes from the best Oberösterreichisches wheat from the Grieskirchner region. The brewery sees it as their “historic royal duty” to extend the Weissbier equator to Austria and to offer delicious wheat beers even outside the Bavarian borders.
