Exile Brewing Company, located in Des Moines, Iowa, was inspired by the immigrants that made our country what it is today. The brewery is inspired by The Mother of Exiles, Lady Liberty herself, holding her torch, offering a sign of hope.

Founder R.J. Tursi opened Exile Brewing Company in 2012 to honor his family’s journey from Naples, Italy to America and encourage other immigrants to follow their dreams.

The beers are brewed on a steam powered North American-made 4-vessel, 30-barrel brewhouse. Combining European tradition and American hard work, Exile Brewing Company produces full-flavored, easy-drinking lagers and ales.

Earlier this year Exile Brewing Company was ranked number 5 on MSN’s list of America’s 10 Best-Selling New Craft Beers.

The four year round offerings from Exile Brewing Company include Hannah – a Bavarian Wheat, Beatnik Sour – a Berliner-style Weisse, Ruthie – a Gold Lager, and today’s New Brew Review, Gigi – a Dark Lager.

Gigi combines complex flavors with a smooth body. Noble hops, bitter dark chocolate malt, and sweet caramel and Munich malt blend together to create an uncommon brew.

Thank you to Nicholas Schoenfelder for sharing this with us! Cheers!
