During my recent trip to Asheville, NC, I visited the tasting room at Hi-Wire Brewing Company in Downtown Asheville’s Brew District. I enjoyed the Hi-Wire Lager while I was there.
In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I ordered it again at Luella’s BBQ when we had dinner there the next night.
Hi-Wire strives to be independent and authentic while brewing approachable beers. The artwork for their beers is hand-drawn by a local artist. Their tasting room boasts a light-hearted circus theme, which embodies fun, authenticity, and creativity. Their motto is, “Walk on the Wire Side.”
Hi-Wire serves four year-round “Main Attraction” beers – Prime Time Pale, Hi-Pitch IPA, Bed of Nails Brown, and Hi-Wire Lager. There is also a rotating selection of seasonal offerings, as well as “Side Show Seasonals”, available exclusively at the tasting room. Currently they are serving the Strongman Coffee Milk Stout and The Contortionist, a black IPA (I also picked up a bottle of this one).
I picked up a bottle of Bed of Nails at the local Trader Joe’s in Asheville. The brown ale is their nod to the traditional English brown ale. The delicate body allows the caramel and coffee flavors from the specialty malts to shine.
