Steph’s New Brew Review: Accumulation

Steph’s New Brew Review: Accumulation

New Belgium Brewing Company Accumulation, a 6.2% ABV, 60 IBU White IPA

Appearance Cloudy, pale golden color with fluffy white foam.
Aroma Hops! Tropical, citrusy, spicy, herbal.
Taste Wow! Hops shine here. Bright and bitter.
Mouthfeel Medium-bodied. Bitterness is slightly cloying, but finishes clean.
Overall What a refreshing change of pace for a winter seasonal. This is delicious!

New Belgium Brewing Company is known for changing up their seasonal offerings every few years. This is the second year for New Belgium’s winter seasonal, Accumulation, which celebrates the first accumulating snowfall and the white of winter. Going against the grain, New Belgium delivers a big and bright White IPA, different from the darker beers typical of the winter season.

Accumulation is unfiltered, boasting a cloudy white-gold color, much like a traditional wheat beer. Mosaic and Amarillo hops, offer tropical aromas, while Target and Centennial hops offer flavors of peach and citrus and a bitter bite. The wheat adds a smooth, creamy mouthfeel, but this White IPA drinks like a proper American-style India Pale Ale.
