Abita Brewing Company was founded in 1986 in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans, Louisiana.

In the first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. Today, over 151,000 barrels of beer and 9,100 barrels of root beer are brewed each year.

Abita uses British and North American malted barley, German and American yeast strains, Pacific Northwest hops and the pure artesian water of Abita Springs. The beer has no preservatives, additives or stabilizers and is cold filtered.

Abita Christmas Ale is a seasonal offering from Abita Brewing Company, available from November through December. The recipe for the special dark holiday ale changes each year. The spicy character pairs with traditional holiday foods such as gingerbread or spiced nuts.
