Something Wicked Brewing Company, located in downtown Hanover, PA, is owned by a group of beer loving friends. The brewery opened on June 5, 2015.

Steve Buenzow, Jim and Cindy Staub, Scott Pivoris, Bridget and Bill Seidler were brought together by their shared love for Jimmy Buffet as members of the Hanover Area Parrothead Club in 1999.

The group vacationed in the Outer Banks, NC, where the idea for Bill and Steve’s Bar, a tropical island bar was first introduced… after consuming several homebrewed beers, of course.

Bar Gifts

While it is not beachfront property, Bill and Steve purchased the 130 year old abandoned building in downtown Hanover in 2012 that is now the home of Something Wicked Brewing Company.

The taproom at Something Wicked has a bar with seating for 8 and seats for an additional 40. The taproom is cozy and welcoming with music playing and the friendly staff circulating to check on customers.

Something Wicked is currently pumping out brews on a 1-barrel system, but a 3-barrel system is already on site and the crew expects to be brewing on the new system any day now.

Beer

The beers on tap at Something Wicked included…

  • Sinful – 7.1% ABV IPA with Citra, Citra, and more Citra
  • Wrath – 5.1% ABV Farmhouse Sour with Mixed Berries
  • Wicked – 5.3% ABV Hefeweizen
  • Brazen – 5.7% ABV Brown Ale

  • Charity – 4.9% ABV Blonde Ale
  • Chaos – 5.6% ABV Chocolate Coconut Stout
  • Penance – 6.4% ABV Porter with Coffee and Vanilla Beans

My favorite beer from Something Wicked was Chaos. The stout was smooth and satisfying with the right balance of chocolate and coconut.

In addition, Kriek Cider from Big Hill Ciderworks was on tap. The 7% ABV Sour Cherry Blended Cider was quite delicious. I do not like ciders, but I immediately started googling “Big Hill Cider” to find out where I could get more!

Something unique about Something Wicked’s tap list is a tap dedicated to cold brewed coffee! Kyoto, a Gevalia coffee was on tap during our visit. Delicious! The cold brew coffee option is always changing.

Once brewing on the new system, Something Wicked will begin filling growlers to go. For now, enjoy pints or flights of beers in house.
