Sterling Pig Brewery is the latest endeavor from restaurateur Loic Barnieu. Located on State Street at Baltimore Pike in Media, PA, the brewery and restaurant opened its doors in spring 2015.

Enter the front of the building from Baltimore Pike to sit in the downstairs bar area. The cozy space features a large rectangular bar with seating for about two dozen. The wooden front of the bar is not only attractive, but includes purse hooks and electrical outlets. Score! There are also a few high top tables along with wall.

Exterior

The dark stone, brick walls, and concrete floors offer a comfortable basement feel to the space, complete with large screen televisions showing college football games on mute. Tons of light flows through the industrial garage door windows along the front of the building.

If you enter the side of the building from the parking lot, you’ll enter the larger restaurant area upstairs which features brick red painted walls and a copper pizza oven. There is a plan for rooftop dining in the future.

Interior

There are 8 beers on tap, all brewed on the 15-barrel brew system. The selections available during our visit included…

  • Schweintoberfest – 5.0% ABV Märzen
  • Orange Street Wheat – 4.5% ABV Belgian-style Wit with citrus zest and ginger
  • Shoat – 5.0% ABV American Hybrid
  • Snap Dragon – 5.0% ABV Belgian-style Grisette

  • Big Gunz Double IPA – 8.0% ABV Double IPA
  • The Snuffler – 6.0% ABV House IPA
  • The Vernal – 6.4% ABV Unfiltered IPA
  • State Street Stout – 6.5% ABV Hoppy American Stout

The highlight for me was Schweintoberfest, which was brewed with Dutch Malt from our friends at Deer Creek Malthouse.

TableEnjoy any beer in a pint or choose a beer flight of four or eight small pours. Beers can be purchased to go in branded 64 ounce growlers. Wine from Karamoor Winery is available to enjoy in house.

While we did not eat while at Sterling Pig, the food looked and smelled quite delicious. The barbeque seemed to be a popular choice. Served with corn bread, cole slaw, and mashed potatoes, you can choose pulled pork, beef brisket, ribs, or the BBQ combo.

Glass

The wood oven pizzas were also popular with choices like Margherita, Verdura (grilled vegetables and shitake mushrooms), La Chevre (goat cheese, spinach, and crème fraîche), Pera (blue cheese, pear, fig sauce, and arugula), BBQ Pulled Pork, and Crudo.

Sterling Pig is open daily from 11:30 AM to 1:30 AM.
