President Thomas Jefferson said, “Beer, if drunk in moderation, softens the temper, cheers the spirit and promotes health.” Join the Young Friends at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania for an evening of exploring beer throughout US history, from 200 year-old recipes to mid-century advertisements to the brews of today!

On Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, the Young Friends of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania (HSP) is hosting its spring event that will celebrate the history beer and brewing in the Greater Philadelphia area. The event will feature local breweries, beer tastings, and will be held in HSP’s historic building at 13th and Locust in Philadelphia.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view a special selection of documents and items from HSP’s collection of over 21 million items. The selection will be connected to brewing and items will range from coasters to nineteenth century beer recipes. There will also be a raffle for prize packages.
