The past year has been a great one for Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company. Head Brewer Jeremy Myers was voted the 2014 Brewer of the Year by Philly Beer Scene magazine, the brewery began canning beers this past summer, and now a new taproom and game room is open.

When you enter the front door of the brewery, head right to enter the brewing space, which is also the location of the new tasting room. A wooden L-shaped bar, offering seating for 14 people, offers views of the brewing system, large fermenters, and extensive barrel collection. Biergarten-style picnic tables provide additional seating, and there are 6 vintage arcade games, including Ms. Pac-Man, lining the wall.

On Saturday, November 29, NCBC celebrated the grand opening of the new taproom and game room at the brewery. In the afternoon from 2 to 6 PM there was a Homebrewers Appreciation Rally featuring free HBS Stout and draft specials for all homebrew club members.

HBS Stout was NCBC’s 2014 GABF Pro-Am effort. The 3.8% ABV Smoked Irish Dry Stout was a category winner and Best of Show finalist for War of the Worts XIX in 2014 brewed by Mike Dietz and Ryan Wilson from the Keystone Hops homebrew club.

Several members from the Keystone Hops, as well as Berks County Homebrew Club, ALEiens, and other local homebrew clubs were in attendance, sharing homebrews and enjoying the NCBC beers.

Bar Gifts

Starting at 6 PM the taproom was opened to the public with music from PJ Bond, Steve-O (The Holy Mess) and Zock (Astpai). Food was available from Say Cheese in the afternoon and Taco Mundo in the evening out in the parking lot.

Some special beer tappings featured during the event included BBA Punkless Dunkel, BBA Concrete Pillow, and Beast Infection Sour Ale.

The BBA Punkless Dunkel is a 9.2% ABV Pumpkin Wheat Ale aged for six months in Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels. The BBA Concrete Pillow is a 12.7% ABV American Barleywine aged aged in Wild Turkey Bourbon Barrels. Beast Infection Sour Ale is an 11% ABV Sour Belgian Ale aged for 18 months in Port wine barrels.

Dunks Ferry Dunkelweizen, the 5.2% ABV fall seasonal German Dark Wheat and Neshaminator, the 8.5% ABV German Wheat Bock were also on tap.

Taps

Hopheads were joyous at the event enjoying J.A.W.N. (Juicy Ale with Nugget), a 5.2% ABV American Pale Ale brewed with Nugget and Zythos hops and The Shape of Hops to Come, the 8.5% ABV Imperial IPA brewed with Apollo, Newport, Simcoe, Topaz, and Citra hops.

In addition to these tasty brews, NCBC’s year-round offerings were also on tap, including the 2013 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal winning Churchville Lager, County Line IPA, Croydon Cream Ale, Trauger Pilsner, and Tribute Tripel.

Beers are sold in pints (or 13 ounce goblets depending on the beer style) as well as flights of four. Most beers can be taken home in growlers, and the old tasting room is now the brewery store, selling tons of NCBC gear from T-shirts to glassware and beer to go in bottles, cans, and growlers.

Bottles

If you can’t make the trip to Croydon, NCBC will be pouring at Fegley’s Craft Beer Festival in Allentown and the Valley Forge Beer Festival, both on December 6, 2014. Click here to check out other NCBC events.
