Hawthornes IPA Block Party Whets Appetites for Philly Beer Week

On a sunny and hot day in South Philly, the masses gathered for the 6th annual IPA Block Party at Hawthornes Cafe. Directly across from Bella Vista Beer Distributors, one of the city’s most respected distributors, Hawthornes is known for its craft beer selection and gourmet dishes to pair with.

Several breweries’ libations were on hand to quench the thirst of a parched crowd, including: Two Roads, Yards, Round Guys, Dock Street, Oskar Blues, Ballast Point, Sierra Nevada, and many more. Admission to the block party was free, and brews were a modest price of $5 a piece. Hawthornes was also serving some bar food to compliment the suds.

The crowd was serenaded by a few of the area’s bands, including a local rockabilly group and a band led by recurring Beer Busters guest, Luke Bowen of Evil Genius.

On a beautiful day leading up to the extended party that is Philly Beer Week, the IPA Block Party was just what the neighborhood needed to whet their appetites.
