Pucker Up! It’s time for the Fifth Annual Pucker Up! Sour Beer Fest at Devil’s Den in South Philly!
From August 16 to 22, 2014 – that’s right, for an entire week the bar will have an unbelievable 60 beer lineup, making the event even more tart than ever! Devil’s Den owner Erin Wallace will provide patrons with the largest selection of sour, tart, and funky beers in Philadelphia.
The entire draft tower at Devil’s Den – that’s 17 drafts – will be pouring sour beers to kick off the week on August 16 and 17. For the remainder of the week, eight lines will be dedicated to pouring sour beers, changing frequently. The lineup will included about 60 award winning and/or rare sours including Off Color’s Troublesome, Bruery’s Sour in the Rye, Bruery’s Oude Tart, Ithaca’s White Gold, and eight sours from Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales. It’s hard to believe that the first Sour Fest – only 5 years ago – featured just 10 sour beers!
A highlight of the week will be award-winning beer writing Don Russell, aka Joe Sixpack’s interactive Sour Beer Class on Tuesday, August 19 from 7 to 10 PM at Devil’s Den. The $35 ticket event will include six 6-ounce samples of specially selected sour beers as well as appetizers. Guests will learn about different brewing techniques used to create these unique sour beers. Tickets can be purchased through eventbrite.com.
