Bad Beat Brewing opened on July 11, 2014 in Henderson, Nevada, bringing quality craft beer to a thirsty Vegas-area crowd. Bad Beat owner and founder Nathan Hall decided to open the brewery in 2012 to fill a void in the Vegas beer market.

Head Brewer Weston Barkley started as a homebrewer and worked as a brewer for Joseph James for two years before joining Bad Beat.

Sign

Bad Beat Brewing is part of the Artisan Booze District. Located just 15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, the Booze District is an alliance of family-owned beverage manufacturers dedicated to connecting the community through the spirit of spirits.

In addition to Bad Beat Brewing, CraftHaus Brewery, Vegas Brewing Company, Grape Expectations – Nevada School of Winemaking, Las Vegas Distillery, and the Chocolate Makery are all part of the Booze District.

Bad Beat embraces their casino-filled location with their beer names, playing cards within a poker chip logo, and wooden poker chip-shaped beer flight holders. Perhaps the fact that Hall is an avid poker player also has something to do with it.

Bar Gifts

Visitors can easily entertain themselves with free video games, shuffleboard, and board games as they enjoy tasty brews from Bad Beat.

Beer

The beers on tap during our visit included…

  • Bluffing Isn’t Weisse – 5.1% ABV Hefeweizen
  • Ante Up Amber – 5.2% ABV Amber Ale
  • The Daily Grind – 5.2% ABV Pale Ale
  • Ace in the Hole – 5.5% ABV Basil Pale Ale
  • Hoppy Times – 7.0% India Pale Ale

  • Gutshot – 4.1% ABV Dry Irish Stout
  • Queen of Hearts – 3.8% ABV Berliner Weisse with Guava
  • Joker Anniversary Ale – 11.0% ABV Belgian Golden Strong Aged in Chardonnay Barrels
  • Next Level – 9.1% ABV Imperial IPA

The beers at Bad Beat were a pleasant surprise. My favorite was the Queen of Hearts. The tart Berliner Weisse was refreshing and delicious.

In addition to being available on tap and in bottles at the brewery, Bad Beat beers are also available in 22-ounce bottles at local places like Whole Foods, Vons, Sprouts, Lee’s (Discount Liquor), and Total Wine (and More).
